IAMCP Discussion
Our President, Reza Palizban, recently spoke to a host of Microsoft Service Providers at the IAMCP event. IAMCP is IAMCP is a professional association of Microsoft partners dedicated to helping companies and individuals in the “Microsoft ecosystem” to broaden their base of business opportunities through partnering with other IAMCP members – both within their own communities and around the world. The association is organized in chapters across three main regions: Americas, APAC, EMEA. He spoke about passwordless authentication and the rise of its importance in the current tech sphere. He discussed how it blends with the Zero Trust framework and the Microsoft strategy that they call the ‘4 Steps to Freedom’. Those steps are:
- Deploy a passwordless replacement solution
- Reduce user visible password surface area
- Transition into password-less deployment
- Eliminate passwords from the directory
He also discussed what a world without passwords could look like… Interesting ehh?!

Passwordless?! What?!
Yes, that’s right, passwordless. We know it is such a hot topic right now, attached with some complexity and too very minimal understanding across most IT departments. And that is where we come in.
“Your password, in the case of breach, just doesn’t matter— unless it’s longer than 12 characters and has never been used before.” Alex Weinert, Director of Identity Security at Microsoft
Cybercriminals have been able to pick off passwords from unsuspecting users through clever phishing emails with ease, tricking even the most tech-savvy employees into giving mission critical access to bad actors. So, to prevent password breaches, passwordless authentication was born. Its primary goal is to eradicate passwords—and to drain their value for attackers.

Benefits of passwordless authentication:
- Reduce company risk through increasing company privacy
- Reduce IT expenditure as most IT departments spend a large amount of their time on password recovery
- Support for remote working
- Time saved due to interoperability among several authentication devices
- Ease of use as there is no need to remember lengthy and complex passwords
Adopting passwordless security comes with a well-established and executed organizational strategy that aligns multiple business units. It is a process that requires many moving parts, though it is something that you and your organization should be very excited about, and we are here to help and provide much needed clarity throughout your journey!
Over the coming weeks and months, we aim to educate you and your organization on passwordless authentication, the many benefits, and how to create and adopt a passwordless strategy across your organization, including change management and maintainability. Please watch your inboxes and our announcements on social media.
